The dark grey one (probably seemed black in photos) is a re-released version of the IE3.0. uNkind could not have possibly used it. The original version is a light grey color. Some report having 450dpi with the re-released version of the IE3.0, but I don't seem to see any difference between the new one and the original.

If you want something with a similar shape but updated technology, the death adder is slightly smaller but is basically the same shape.

I don't really want to spend loads of money in new tech optics. What I want is basically the exact shape as the original IE3.0. As I said I like the optic engine in 1.1a, so I guess I will not have any problems with the newest IE3.0? (I guess shape remains exactly the same)

The deathadder is also fifty times as heavy as the IE3.0.

Right, so I went and "tested" them (my brother has a DA) and for me the IE3.0 feels lighter, however this may just because it would appear that the DA is back heavy whereas the IE3.0 is more evenly spread.

What I fear is being annoyed by the asymmetrical shape, but then again my roots are mx500 so I guess I will be able to re-adapt.

It's a less annoying shape than the mx500 for a WMO user (My IE3.0 doesn't work so I've never used it for long periods) and even though they updated the optics slightly it's almost the same 400 -> 450.

But I'm pretty sure uNkind played with a claw/fingertip grip anyway (same with cooller even though he used mx500 @ 2002-03 period).

did you measure 360 distance for both of them?

I didn't measure them as such, I did a very loose, quick 360 test and they were almost identicle (with me being the error) whereas the IE3 should have done quite a few degrees more.

The Sensitivity and Accel feel exactly the same with both mice too.

New IME 3. 0 has 400 DPI.

I have two of them one bought in 2006 in USA, and another one bought in Ukraine in 2009. Both of them have 400 DPI, according to MouseTest.

At the end of the day does it even really matter? It's only 50dpi, just get used to it and enjoy every other aspect of the mouse. There are plenty of other important things to debate about. Like "does size really matter?".

But if you don't know if it's 400 or 450 you can't really recalculate?

What you do before switching to a new mouse is find out what your current sens is (obviously in cm/360). You then plug in that new mouse and adjust your settings to match your current sensitivity. If you had to change your in game sens, then hey guess what, there's a dpi change. If not, then I suppose it was the same. It's almost as if you could apply this method for switching to any new mouse...

Hello Mouse Accel...

...is for suckers and shouldn't be a problem. To do this, you would simply *gasp* turn off your accel and measure your sensitivity. Then plug in your new mouse and determine if there was a change. Wasn't there some equation that someone wrote up a while ago that actually calculated that? Even if there wasn't, worst case senario, you get to play with some settings based on feel. Not an exact science I know, but I guess that's the price you pay for using accel. I personally don't use accel nor will I ever. TBPH it really shouldn't be an issue at all to get used to such a small change, especially when you know how to make the transition so much easier. There's far bigger fish to fry as far as I'm concerned.

You've never used accel so I'll forgive you but it isn't so simple to adjust to different accel values (especially slight differences) and can require quite a time investment.

That's one of the reasons why I don't like accel. You can't replicate it in every game perfectly unless you use the built in accel through mouse drivers.

But it's just like I was saying, it's not difficult to re-calculate although it'll probably be a bitch to adjust to your accel. Either way, it can be done and it's not too hard.

I only play Q3/L though so it's fine :)

It's next to impossible to get the exact same accel setting without knowing the DPI and other settings and it's generally easier and quicker than faffing about with measuring things.

3.0 shape is godlike, you'll have no problem switching from the wmo.

RE: DPI; i think there may very well have been different versions of the new 3.0, as mine is around 23cm/360 at sens 4 whereas my friends is 26cm/360. tested on the same system, same game.

wont ever need more that 400dpi.. mouse's with 800, or 1600 for that matter is uncontrollable!.. :( maybe i should buy myself a buttload of ime's now when you can still get'em..

Got mine. First thing I noticed is it doesn't look black like in the pics. It has the original colour. Weird. Shouldn't the remake be black?

Anyway. What drivers should I use? It comes with Intellipoint 6.3. Im already using Intellipoint with the 1.1a because I like to get the mouse speed controlled with it.

My IE3.0 is a very dark grey colour, and I'm using 6.10 drivers, not that that matters too much.

Mines a lot darker than the old one but it's not black.

Yeah, in last two months I bought two of them, both were dark silver, although on packaging images they were depicted in black.

My mouse is the best because it has 1600DPI. THE moere the better.
