is that wmo or 1.1? on gotfrag they say it's a wmo, and also that there's a shape difference between them (i thought it was same shape but with side buttons).

they also say wmo it's prefered for quake games because of it's shape slightly different than 1.1, even if it does not have side buttons.
1.1 is prefered for cs possibly for the extra buttons.

In both games also it's used the 3.0 so I thought buying one instead of a wmo or a 1.1, but I don't know if it is really too big (I used mx510 a lot, but I don't like the mx500 shape anymore)

which mousepad? i'm thinking about qck+ or heavy, or a puretrak talent

There is WMO (wheel mouse optical) and there is IMO (intelimouse optical). It's the sensor or firmware version that is called 1.1, which they both have.

In case you are wondering, WMO rocks, IMO sucks.

yes, wmo1.1(a)

it's all about preference, you have to test both to determine which suits you better, noone can tell you

no, there is a wmo1.0 (very old, skips horrible), a wmo1.1(retail) and a wmo1.1a(bulk)

Alot of them on ebay/amazon aren't labeled 1.0, 1.1 or 1.1a. I'm for example thinking about getting 3 black ones in a pack, they're just sold as:

MICROSOFT Black Wheel Mouse Optical PS2 USB 3 Pack N71-00008

Is there a risk these are 1.0 ? Google hasn't been alot of help. :<

1.1 & 1.1a are exactly the same.
1.1 = retail and 1.1a = bulk.

Isn't 1.0 so old now that it's fair to say those black wmo 3-5 in a pack are the newer kind?
That kind of info is vital to a _final_ thread about the wmo. :o

I wouldn't risk it, but it's pretty unlikely.

yeah, 1.0 versions are very old. i even think that black 1.0's don't exist. but what does hinder you to ask the seller about a picture of the label?

The WMO 1.0 hasn't been produced in such a long time that it would be a freaking miracle that you recieved one. And if you ever did, most likely it would say WMO 1.0. If you did somehow get a WMO and you weren't sure if it was a good one or not, you can check for two things.

1.) The grey sides will be opaque as opposed to the 1.1's translucent sides. They didn't start making the translucent sides until the 1.1s.

2.) You can just test it for two seconds to see if the freaking thing skips.

It always amazes me how many times this question gets asked when a simple search on this forum should reveal the answer. If not searching the forum, a simple search on Microsoft's website will tell you everything you need to know. Oh well.

On another note, I'm actually considering dumping my Salmosa to go back to my WMO yet again. I don't know why I keep straying from it. I should just learn to not upgrade my mouse until someone comes out with one that doesn't have bloody prediction.

Speaking of which, what's the most reliable way of getting that WMO up to 500hz?

I got myself some WMO's a year ago (3x1.1a, 1x1.1) and all of them broke up after ~1 week of use with the same symptoms:
Mouse Buttons got stuck to the ground; sometimes mouse1 only works if doing alot of pressure on it,
sometimes while holdig mouse1 it just stops shooting ingame and stuff....

I'm wondering why nobody else reported this by now.

Anybody got the same experience and was able to fix it? - Please let me know, i prefer the WMO's shape over the IE3.0 anytime!

I'd recommend getting in touch with Microsoft. Their support is probably the second finest i've ever encountered second only to Logitech, my IME3 was dying and was 1 and a half years old when i got in contact, the replacement was here three days later.

Brilliant services but it's a bastard to locate the actual form to get in touch with them.

I'm sure they would be fine about replacing your mouse regardless of the age, i just hope you have the details on the bottom and haven't took them off.

Never heard of such a high failure rate with that mouse. You must've either gotten a bad batch or you need to stop abusing your mice.

Thanks for the answers.

I dont think i'm a special mouse abuser, got my current IE3.0 since almost 4 years now an its still working perfectly.

I dont think i will go through replacing process, i already messed up with opening most of those mice (i tried to increase the two mousebolts with tape nstuph). Also i replaced the IE3.0 mousefeeds
with 4 WMO ones, since they appear to be much smoother on my mousepad and got same shape.

if you have the 3.0, then you're already fine. It's perfect. I've tried EVERYTHING (think excessive hobby budget resources), and I've found nothing anywhere near as good. I do have very big hands though.

Why do you prefer it over the wmo?
I rememberd my very old broken ie3.0 when going through this thread few days ago. Since I'd given up on the DA and needed to mess it up to fix the buttons anyway (and had ordered a wmo), I decided to check if frankenmousing it into the ie3.0 shape whould be a hassle. It went surprisingly smooth, so now I have a 1000 hz ie3.0 :O
Still interested in trying the wmo, since the shape is different (and favored by fox, cypher etc.), but will it stand a chance against the _IntelliAdder Deathxplorer 3.0_ :P

I use the thumb buttons and my hands are too big for the WMO.
I don't like the grip on the D.A., or the button delay. The tracking itself is nice, yes, but I use the 3.0 at 500hz, and have never had a negative accel issue, even in my lowest sens days.
So overall, I honestly can't say I could find a mouse better suited for me. I own or have owned logi g9, g5, mx300, mx518, razer d.a., copperhead, and various others. Of all the mouses I've used, the 3.0 is what I always go back to, even if it's months later

Cypher uses Deathadder no i mean... he does have his own commemorative one right? just like a ton of top pros now a days ie DKT, team fnatic, cypher(?) and SK gaming if i am not mistaken and those are just off the top of my head. Get the new prediction-less firmware and the UNCLIPPABLE (well basically) mouse!! <3 mah Deathadder! basically its intellimouse accuracy and 0 clipping even at the lowest of sens. they do wear quickly though but they have a 2 year warranty so its no all bad. im on my second one but only paid for 1 so good id say. replaced it at the end of 2 years :P so yeah thats my 2 cents.
