Well, if you saw the game between Z4muZ and cooller, which was played today, you see that Z4muZ played really well and fair.

Simply: Cooller broke the rules, fox-Z4muZ was close in winnerbrackets too.

Everyone has his own opinion on this, but he simply broke the rules, As admins, we dont have to accept this, and a rematch is on his place. This time, the game has been played with even more fair pings then in the previous game.

The rematch was fair and square, fair pings, and it was a nice and close game. Z4muZ deserved his spot in the finals.

btw, just as a point of interest, how did you determine that he changed maxpackets midgame?

bottom line is that he broke the rules. he should be glad that he got another chance and if he was the better player he would have won the rematch.

the rematch wasn't fair, just imagine how you would feel if someone told you to replay a game you won. It was the admin's fault for not stopping the game when cooller changed his mp so making them replay everything after it was all over it's just lame.

i watched the demo and Cooller didn't warp at all. He won the map fair and square.

you can, from my experience, determine the level of warp from a players pov demo and none of Cooller's demos are choppy at all. He didn't warp, but it's all academic as the tournament is now meaningless :) as is the preview I spent fucking ages writing at 6am :/

It seems that ESR had totally undermine all online tourneys not only because of its unpredictable ping situation but due to their very unfair judgement :(

Hey, cool. Next time someone's losing a match, they should hit a bind 'accidentally' and then they can re-play. Instant re-match.

The rule *should* have been that the *other* player had the option of deciding what to do since the infraction wasn't his own. Kind of like American football... if the defensive team commits a penalty, the offensive team has the option of taking the penalty (and the automatic yard gain) or declining it (taking their yardage gain instead).

Since Cooler made the mistake, the other player should have had the option of accepting the re-play or not, since the outcome affected him. But that's academic now.

Oh well... maybe someday e-sports will have the same level of thought towards rules as other sports... maybe. ;)

This tournament was NOT a LAN-tournament, and the players skills on LAN does NOT matter! If Russia is so mutch better on LAN, who cares? I think it was a fair decision. Many props to sizah and the rest of the admins and players aswell as TSN for arranging such a good tournament. GTV worked flawless and the commentators were just superb as always. good job people.

That is not the question you joker. Why do you feel the need to defend the swedish players here? The swedes don't have any major duel lan results at all recently, so those players still have to prove that they are the best, while the russian players already have done that.

Blue is the only swede to win a major q3 1v1 LAN event and that was over 2 years ago. Lakerman came 2nd at a couple of events but never won anything major.

Lakerman won a LanArena tournament (not sure which) in paris by beating german player Kane in the final on (the old version of) cpm1a.

I want to tell all the participants and organisers that this really was a spark in the dark. Fun to watch and really good matches! Add to that - interesting coverages brought among others by TSN who definitely contributed in their special way. My biggest laugh was when focus shifted from one of the matches to Trillians connection problems and the other one commented her efforts to get back rather than the match itself. I'm not complaining here, it was just so .. ah well...

I've just seen a couple of demos yet but what a quality and what action! My favourite so far is the z4muz frag on if22 after dropping down to the red armour on dm13 I believe.

About the replay thing I'm for rules and for keeping them. WCG and other torneys always mess things up by NOT following them. This time the rules were enforced, that's a good thing. It makes the "sport" a little more serious and also more interesting to watch. However there's always a flamewar after something like that and Russians are notoriously most eager to start.

GG Fox/Zero4 and the rest! I'd sure like to see a final with those two.

If you think that the admins had an agenda to get an all swedish finals you are dead wrong. If anything a cooller-fox finals would have been "better" for the tournament.

Now one can argue that maxpackets 60 is unsuitable as a rule and it should be changed. But as long as the rules are the way they are I don't see how anyone can argue that the admins are doing something wrong when they enforce rules that have been known over a month.

Rules are here to be followed, but i think everybody must admit that it's not a rule that should lead to a rematch. mp 30 and 60 are quite the same, they change the game as much as the rate would have, and i pointed out that maybe other players hadn't got the right rate.
Anyway, when it's done, it's done :)

if cooler broke the rules then u have to stick with the decision regardless of what you think of the particular rule itself.

however I'm still not keen on the idea of imposing rules after the game is over, if someone cheats in a football match and the referee doesn't notice it then the player may get fined after it, but you will never see the match being replayed.

I understand it was tricky because no admin was on the server at the time, but if the admins made a decision to let them use the server and not be their in person then they have to accept the consequences of not being able to referee properly.

also the idea of giving the idea of letting the disadvantaged player decide what happens (default or replay or such), even if it is done in secret there are things that can go wrong, the admin is there to make decisions on the rules and it should always be their decision imho.

It is more like a doped player can lose his medal if he is checked afterwards. Very common in sports.

To all of you who desperately try to discuss this on a sober level: this is a lost cause. I mean the only ones writing these stupid flaming comments, "they own on LAN" or "he sucks" or whatever, are people with an inability to see things from any other perspective than from their own nationalistic tunnel-visioned angle.

I made a litle study of forums posts some time ago and it was all so clear that there's always these kind of debates after a tourney. It doesn't matter what has happened - there's a flamewar anyway. The people who are most keen on doing it did have some things in common though: they're often named "anonymous" in the threads, they come from Russia or the US, they never check up or if they do they ignore the facts of anything and they are extremely nationalistic and I guess (or hope) are underaged.

It's fun though to crush down these pointless arguments from time to time and for the moment I can't help myself on this one. Therefore, to amuse myself and maybe others, I have a little question to all of you who think the rules decision sucked and who think that Cooller or any other Russian quaker is the best in the world no matter what:

b100 death and kik are not tdm players and vs proZaC / fazz it was hardly a suprise they lost. The wcg isn't really about 2v2 though, it's just a fun side event with no prize money. In 1v1, blue aside sweden has always come up short.

Exactly as in fact the whole q3-community was planning this secret plot against this Cooller - to make it impossible for him to win the ESO-tournament. They stayed up all night to make up secret schemes to twarth this titan of q3arena. I heard that even George Bush was in on it as well as Bill Gates and Usama Bin Laden.

This decision has made the tourney a bit of a anti-climax, and why wasnt cooller's match with zlo replayed, as he was also using maxpackets 30 there, was even noticed by the admins during the match but nothing was done, but all of a sudden it matters vs someone else? not to mention he was playing with ping disadvantage the entire damn tourney on unfair servers, it seems he doesnt even get a say in anything. just because his english is poor he is treated like a fool and taken for a ride. n1.

c'mon people stop the country-hate now. What, because e.g. maka was a lamah we should also say "americans get fucked in tourneys"? Yeah and lets not forget the Z4 WCG2002 episode...

Kmon.. why u just can’t stop crying of you had no chance to prove yourself on LAN. There are a lot of q3 1vs1 tourneys.. not only WCG. Prove yourself on one of them and all will agree that u are the best.. Russians duelers had already proved themselves on QuakeCon, WCG, AMD Cup, CPL Holland and many others..

btw remember that q3 1vs1 WCG 2001 was won not by swedish..

There's is a big difference between LAN and Online tournament..For instance,to hit ur enemy with the railgun,in LAN match all u have to do is catch him in ur crosshair and shoot.While in the online game u have to use some kind of prediction and shoot not in the spot where he is,but in some other spot(because of the ping).Same goes for every weapon.Also,there's almost always a ping difference,the ping is never the same.The ping factor makes the game depend on luck very much.So,there's no need to take everything so seriosly and debate the results like they really matter alot.This is an omline chemp -no more no less.I dont mean to say that FOX sux and would be owned on LAN.I dont know,we'll have to see.But if he wins online,it prooves that he definetly has some skill,and is not going to be taken easily.

I'm just suggesting that you open your eyes to see the high rate of nationalism and racism in our own country, which is worse then in any other country i've been to.

Why is that funny? It's not funny at all, on the contrary it's really sad I think. Then again I didn't say that. What I said was that when I counted the posts through a series of tourneys some time back I found that the number of posts containing "foul speech", "degrading comments" and pure "we will kick your ¤#"%¤ ass anyday" at an overwhelming degree came from Russia and US writers. And yes I am fully aware of the extremely stupid posts made by swedes here. they are as bad as any other. In fact I often think of them as worse as they sort of stain my own concience. When it comes to nationalism in general I don't think this is the place but I for one is for a more open and human world where empathy and common sense based on equal value is dominating the value base.

My eyes are open. Why shouldn't they be? Are yours? Where are you from? I don't know what countries you've been to of course but I am really sorry you feel that way. I hope that I can through my actions make a difference in a positive way for others to experience. . The thing is that I didn't write about that, I just couldn't help myself comment on a really stupid post and I brought up some results I had a way back. That really doesn't make me blind or anything else does it?

So, Cooller warped all the time, he was really hard to hit, and thats why zamuz got ~40% rail on ztn and cooller 19%(3 rails?). Not speaking of ~30% zamuz lg. WTF? And remember, Zamuz refused to play on server, where he had worse ping than Cooller, so the admins decided to force the match on the server where Zamuz had lan ping :-)) But all that is crap. Anyone who understands quake and played online, i mean Fazz, If22, Zamuz, Fox, know very well what HUGE advantage is the better connection, especially on ztn and dm6, and im sure Zamuz was very comfortable with hitting all important rails and winning all lg fights and he enjoyed all missed rails from Cooller.
My opinion is that the match souldnt be replayed, because the aim of Zamuz was again on top of coollers.

Funny thing that z4muz and Cooller plays in the same team in this seasons Eurocup Q3DM.
