I was playing CS at my local server: Hatamoto's Hellhole (208.184.182.167) on Saturday, February 2nd, when [W.E.W]boms came in. Pretty cool I thought, as in case you don’t know, the Weekend Warriors is a clan who have won matches and tourneys against some good clans. I’ve played with few other W.E.W members and other good players in Hatamoto’s because it gets good ping, and I live in the same general area as W.E.W. I didn’t think much of it, and went about my business spamming walls and wreaking havoc with my AK, invoking fear into the hearts of the poor bunny rabbits of the server.

Then all of a sudden, some white text flashed on the screen stating that boms was flagged with an OGC cheat violation. Seeing as how he's in a respected clan like W.E.W, I was a little surprised, a little scared, and above all, a bit skeptic. I thought maybe it was just a conflict with the cheat guard like i have sometimes, or maybe somebody trying to slander his name, or a million other things. I know there're some conflicts with all the different cheat guards and anything is possible, but thought this at least warranted for a heads up to boms’ clan leaders, so sent an e-mail to them, along with a screenshot and the IP of Hatamoto’s. Checked back today and got a reply saying that the leaders checked out the server and got the logs of boms’ IP and wonID and found out that whoever got flagged for OGC was just some poser pretending to be the real boms. This whole thing makes me wonder if those other people I played with were really in W.E.W, as most people play with aliases.

The moral of the story, if there is one, is to not jump to conclusions; 1+1 does not always = 2. Official clan matches at a LAN event are one thing, but when somebody you recognize gets caught cheating on a pub, it doesn’t mean much, as most of you already know. I myself have been flagged for OGC on a few servers running some funky cheat guards. I still don’t know what is causing those violations, but that doesn’t matter. In perspective, I’ve been banned from like 3 servers for OGC violations because of faulty cheat guards, and banned from 30+ servers for owning newbie admins. Hatamoto’s has some skilled players who frequent it, and I get excellent ping there (top of the list out of 1000+ servers I have filtered in All Seeing Eye), so I think I'll stick to that, and leave the newbie admins alone. This is just my story, and my way of clearing boms’ name for the people that were in the server at the time. Thanks to tnc joem for the screenshot of the violation, as I unbound my SS button without knowing. Funny that he was watching me, I guess I’m just too sexy to pass over.
