im gonna start doing a bit of coverage of NQR and Challenge Smackdown 5, the worlds 2 biggest qw leagues/cups. following the leagues, cups, playoffs, lans (qhlan) and making sure i upload all the brilliant demos.

Will you come to qhlan?
A lot (well a few) brits will be there this year.

Oh, and I recommend ihm pov for starters, then dag pov for most of the game, and finally hib during the very last minute.

Then you need to type demo_dir c:\quake\demos or whatever you want your demo_dir to be. I *think* that's how it works! Then go into the 'demos' menu on your mqwcl. The good thing about .mvd demos is that you can watch them from anyone's POV.

Wouldn't it be good if someone released a demo show creator program that was compatible with every game, ever? :)

Try looking for a file called mqwcl.cfg somewhere in /quake or /quake/qw - there should be a demo_dir in there somewhere.

The funny thing about this demo is that Lege Artis haven't lost a game yet....and with all their luck they still haven't lost one :)

Hmm, can't find that config.. but I was able to set demo_dir n the console. However it still gave me the cannot open demo error when typing playdemo in console... and the demo function from the main menu doesn't work either.

If you have MQWCL then just create a "demo" dir in your mqwcl folder. So you would have the following: C:/Quake/mqwcl/demo. Then put your demo in there, double click on the mqwcl.exe file and select the demo from the demo player.

OK it's not in /quake or /quake/qw. Oops :)

It's in /quake/id1 - if yours isn't there then bad luck....

Gah fellahs, I just can't get it. I created a demo folder in mqwcl, but the demo player in the menu still says it cannot open directory error. I can't even play it with the console using playdemo c:\ect\ect\ect\demo.mvd

Plz just tell me how to watch this demo.. :)

I'm gonna prepare a zip with everything you need (except pak0.pak and pak1.pak) allready setup and configured, so you can easily install it somewhere and just go without having to fiddle with settings first. I'll upload it somewhere tomorrow and post a link here...

My qw/quake stopped working after i dled the latest drivers for my Radeon 8500 on windows ME. When i load it up it displays all the messages about loading textures etc but then just crashes the whole computer. If anyone else has this problem or knows how to fix it let me know.

can someone plz post some kindof condif so that the graphics etc will look roughly like they do on most 'pro' qw players screen?

I can watch the demo, but i can't switch to an ineyes view. which console command(or was i just too stupid to press the correct button?) do you use therefor?

It probably contains most of what you guys need to get started. Morb, the demo_dir command should go into a config file in your id1 folder (i.e. mqwcl.cfg). Then, create an autoexec.cfg in your qw folder and type exec mqwcl.cfg at the bottom of it.

P.S. Nice to see Hakeem attempting to play QuakeWorld again (this time in the U.S., however). Those games a few nights ago were very fun, though the clan [9] tag is a bit out of date ;). I still need to watch that dm3 demo of the triple rocket kill at quad =).
