this is gonna be a huge update with all the changes that QL desperately needs - including ladders, gtv and anti-cheat. It will come along with an announcement of ten huge LAN parties spread around the world with 1m dollars prizes.
If it was doomed from the start, why did you waste your time on that game then?used to play Q3 religiously for years and this is the only option left for those such as myself still wanting to continue to play it with friends. QL is decent, but that's all it will ever be, decent. due to the unnecessary limitations on iD's end, it will never match up to the amount of fun i've had playing Q3

why not hand the project over to the community to finish?Dunno how that would work out but it would be a last chance to save the game. But we aren't that far (yet).

You should spend money to have fun (or increasing the fun you are having already in this case). Who cares if the game is dying as long as you are having fun playing it. It's not like you are a toplevel player eraning money from tournament prizes.
I agree mostly with what you said but QL is what it is, that is for 100% being controlled by id. So if you want id to work on QL, you need to pay them. After the Quake4 and Rage debacles I doubt that they got much money to spend on "cool" yet non-profitable projects.what do I (and a load of other q3 lovers) have to do with the fact that the dear developers lost their business sense? I would say nothing.

torment of playing QLyou don't need to exaggerate, im causal enough to see the two of quakes almost the same, maybe careless. (meaning it does not matter which one i play ql or q3, but i want masses to play it, and i don't like it when people are leaving my beloved quake)

I wouldn't be surprised if lots of quake lovers take a look on free alternatives, like warsow, xonotic or even open arena. They are free too, user friendly (easier to download, install and setup than Q3) and got enough to offer for the average casual player. Then you got quakeworld whose community seems to be actively trying to attract new players. And of course quake2 which still got fans.

Just saying it's kind of a silly addition to include in the update when there are better mapes/more pressing issues.when judging if something was silly to implement or not, you should take a look at people reactions instead of only your own thoughts on it. a lot of people are very happy that its in, so i would say it was a good call.
