the salmosa is really light, i love the shape, perfect to grab (attached pic of how i hold it)
button clicks are kinda loud and hard, but i like the feedback that gives me
the laser tracks fine on my cloth pad, a paper sheet and my wooden desk, but the 1800dpi settings gives me fussy tracking, as you can see in the main post
couldnt produce any noticeable negative accel

my cat destroyed the cable of my diamondback today. i think i'm gonna buy one of those again. would be my third DB then. :D

all in all the tracking of the diamondback seemed a bit more solid to me, so im thinking about giving the salmosa back to get another db, costs 10€ more though :(

DO -----NOT----- GET THE 3G. the sensor is shit, the original db is MUCH better. i made that mistake very recently! find an old db on ebay, just don't get the 3g.

interesting though, i have a brand new salmosa lying around as well, i liked the mouse but the problem for me was that it was far too light weight for a high sensitivity user like myself. i'm using an icemat still so it's almost overkill, other than the weight it seemed like quite a solid mouse.

what is your plight with the sensor? lift-off distance and prediction or what? I'm not following

prediction should be nullified soon, a Razer employee has claimed that they will be releasing firmware updates for their 3G mice that give the option to disable prediction

If that happens, I'd consider giving the D.A. another go.

That's because the 3.0 is 400 dpi, the salmosa at 800dpi looks just like that. but on 1800 it picks up many more smaler movements. (1800dpi resolution is like 0.014mm)

The inertia of the hand + mouse makes sure there are no trajectories like those Nukm showed, where the "smaller movements" that you describe are just noise or tracking errors.

never could find sensitivity, shape of mouse is crap btw and dunno if its just me but i had feeling like mouse got enormous hardware accel... tried with all accel fixes but still had same feeling. and after a while i got annoyed and i banged him into wall. NEVER AGAIN razer.

i'm happy with my 3.0 but i really prefer the shape of the WMO... which i can't find anywhere in this country unfortunately... the closest thing shape wise is the salmosa so i might buy one just for kicks.

draw some lines and circles in paint with your 3.0, and you should see the difference.

yes but isn't that because of that "prediction" thing some sensors have and not really accuracy? i'd assume the 3g sensor is more accurate from these 2 pictures because it seems to pick up all the imperfections instead of smoothing them out.

i assume nukm is drawing those loops slowly with a shaky hand or the vertical and horizontal prediction is fucking up the loops...

Yeah, its the fact that the user is simply not used to the higher dpi of the mouse and is mistaking the "imperfections" as "tracking errors". Contrary to the thread that I had create a week or two ago, the Salmosa does not have any tracking issues (sans prediction errors) on either dpi setting. Its a matter of getting used to the mouse and learning how to hold/move it properly. It sucks having to learn that for each unique shape, but that's what happens. We just notice little crap like that.

but when you move the mouse really fast the lines/circles should be straight. i would like a better test, so if u have an idea how to get more reliable info about the tracking, im open for ideas

edit: my old diamondback had 1600dpi and the curves look absolutely smooth, just tried it out

the clicks dont register correct anymore. sometimes it doesnt do anything when i click and sometimes it does a double click when i just click once. really annoying :(

I've been meaning to buy this for a while now. When my Krait died, I got a Diamondback 3G, hoping that it wouldn't be too much bigger, but having side buttons. I was wrong - it's way too big. =(

if ur not an ultra-high-sens-player never(N E V E R) use a mouse with >1000dpi and decrease sens in windows.
got a razer lachesis which can get 4000 dpi switched it down to 1000 and it's fine if you're low sens u can go even lower

Sorry to say it like this but...LACHESIS IS A PIECE OF SHIT ON WHICH I ACCIDENTALY STEPPED WITH MY FOOT!!!Im using razer mouses for looong time and this mouse was a big dissapointment for me.First I was using old db (since 02 i think) and after it broke i bought pro|click...couldnt find any db at that time,then with time lachesis came and i though what a cool mouse!I was wrong it had shitload of negative accel and the tracking was so slow and weird like i had +50ping to the mouse lol...anyways the only good thing that it had was that i never missed a rj with it.Then i sold it to some cs guy and now im back on good `ol pro|click/db!!
