fun game, dno if there is an audience for HL mods anymore... but its probably bigger than the Q3 mod scene...

this was a fun game but it has virtually no community or servers last time i played it. most people just play cs:s or dystopia

With this new version there will be servers and players, at least for a little while. So now's a good time to give the game a try.

And there's no Source version of S&I yet, so I don't know what you've been playing :P

This is really the best game I have ever played (and I mean game not mod). The gamerules are original and very clever and the game plays fast.

If you miss "fast-paced" fps and you're bored of tdm and regular ctf then you really should give SI a try. If you've already played quake games it won't take long until you get used to the game and capture your first scientists.

If you want to watch how good players play without going to the servers you can go and see Big bad man with a gauss, a video made by one of the best SI players (who is also the coder of the game).

I remember that movie. It owns :D

It works on HL1 without Steam too, but then you won't be able to join the servers.

MrBozo has oviously a great taste in music, I wanted to dl buy all of the tracks used in these tutos/frag-highlights

HL1 costs $10 on Steam.

Do they give you a key via steam or is it a completely different way to instal a game ? Cause I want to have a "real" game, meaning I want to have it on CD. So since I can't burn a steam game (I think so), I'll have to dl half-life the warez way and burn it on CD, but only if I got a cd-key by buying the game in steam.
otherwise I'll.. mm.. think about it x)

btw could you tell us which tracks were used in "Tutorial Demo: Basics" and the "Tutorial Demo: Movements" :)

last thing : what FOV was used in "big man with a gauss" ? gives me a headache.

When you buy a game on Steam, it just unlocks the game and you can download it and play it right away. You can also go anywhere, log in to your Steam account, and download the games you own. I believe there is also a feature to burn the games on a CD, but I haven't tried it.

About the songs used in the tutorials:
Basics: 3 songs from the Fight Club soundtrack by The Dust Brothers: Corporate world, Medula oblongata, Finding the bomb.
Movements: Morcheeba - Bullet proof, Morcheeba - Coming down gently
Weapons and Devices: Buckethead - Population override

The fov used in the "Big bad man with a gauss" video was 100 90.

I thought it was less than 90 for the fov, got a strange feeling with it.

Actually, the fov is 90 on the video, not 100, my bad. I said 100 because that's the fov I play with, but now that I think about it I must have reverted to the default fov to make the video.

Ahahah, I had forgotten all about this mod, it was great the last time I played it, I'll play it some more tonight I guess :D

It really is the most amount of fun a FPS can be IMO. Much better than any CS or quake.

This is the mod to play if you are looking for a high-speed skillbased teamplay mod. Nothing boils down to luck in this genius mix of strategy and action.

If you're looking for a low speed anti skill ffa mod try Zombie Panic. Nothing like 7 people stacked on a box with guns while zombies try to boost up to kill them with their 5 second delay between jumps.

Too bad this mod has had like one server which is perpetually empty for the past two years. It's even deader than Natural-Selection.
