indeed, he probably attempted to get in using the visa waiver programme too many times within this year and they now suspect him of lying to the authorities about the purpose of his stays (i guess he tried 'for pleasure' all the time, while technically he was there 'for business' on each occasion - for business trips you need a full-fledged visa after all and you can't enter with just your passport)

but that must suck, flying 10 hrs to get there, getting denied and sent back on the spot for another 10 hours :D not to mention the amount of money that got wasted in the process :>

I've been in and out of USA 3 times in 5 weeks and they didn't raise an eyebrow. Every time i've been to states i say i'm visiting for pleasure, after a 10-14hr flight you dont want to explain to some guy who thinks he's the judge and jury of the entire galaxy that you're on a business trip attending some games convention/competition.

The moment you say "gaming tournament" they instantly suspect you of bringing vast amounts of money into the country to gamble with or plan to take alot money out of the country. Few years ago for going to CPL SUMMER 2004 the TAG AMD manager got pulled to one side after saying he was going to a gaming competition and spent 2-3 hours in an interview room as customs just wouldn't believe his story.

My point is i hope it's not a case of multiple entries over a short period of time as i've personally not had any problems with that, unless they got him a different kind of visa.. or he over stayed the 3 months you can stay in USA on a tourist/non working visa..

I've been working in the US off and on for 4 months, travelling back and forth from Sweden - same for some of my colleagues, but I have never heard of this before.

Edit: I know they are pretty picky about the passport, if it's a bit broken somewhere they might not let you in - and the fact that the passport has to be valid for 6 months from the date you enter.

When they made an 80 year old British lady take her shoes of without getting her a seat, so she had to do it while standing, I thought it's not polite and somewhat unreasonable. But it's for security and they probably wanted to treat everyone the same.
Then I found out that every single American got on the plane only with walking through the metal detector...

It´s hard to say who´s the terrorists in the Israel conflict. Israel is on occupied land. They have even built settlements there, breaking all conventions/rules and commiting several warcrimes.
If the US was under siege, would you just surrender not defending your soil or would you support "terrorist" actions performed by civilian americans?

(I know though the middle east conflict isn´t just Israel vs Palestineans. There are for example the Hizbollah supported by Syria and the Al Qaida having other objectives than just liberating Palestine)

If you're refering to the West Bbank, that's a territory Israel conquered in the six day war from Jordan (though Jordan since 1988 is no longer claiming it). Israel does have a plan to withdraw its circa 150k settlers in the area aswell as it withdrew from the Gaza Strip last year.

The thing is since the Palestinians keep blowing themselves up Israel are reluctant to give up more territory (since giving up Gaza didn't help) and want presense in the West Bank to secure it's people (why they have built a fence along the Green Line aswell).

Even if Israel gives up the West Bank and goes back to the pre 1967 border the terrorist attacks wont stop. The countries surrounding Israel isn't giving up until every jew is dead.

Oh yeah, none of this excuses Hezbollahs behavior since Israel withdrew from Lebanon in 2000 (because the Leb Gov and UN had promised to disarm Hezbollah).

You keep bringing up Iraq for some reason - I don't know why. I was against the war. Not because I didn't think it was right, or that Saddam didn't deserve to be deposed OR that the Iraq people didn't deseve freedom. Why? Because it has costed us, the tax-payers an incredible amount of money. And what do we get for it? Absolutely nothing. While I did think they deserved freedom, they're not ready for it.

I don't know exactly who you're refering to and that's why I keep bringing up the fact that the people who attacked us were rich Saudi Arabians. We invaded Afghanistan because of 9/11, by the way.
