does anyone have sk.toxic's q4max config ? i'm really wondering what keys and graphic settings this great player is using, as i'm amazed when watching his demos.
He uses some really weird key setup, zxcv or something to move around. Other than that, he uses pretty high brightness and reasonably low gamma.
Haven't seen his config though.
mouse1 - forward
mouse2 - back
z - moveleft
x - moveright
CTRL - crouch
c - shoot
space - jump
g - gt
e - mg
w - sg
s - gl
a - rl
d - lg
q - hb
t - chat
y - teamchat
SHIFT - zoom
CAPSLOCK - walk
sensitivity 4.5 (around 10 cm per 180)
no mouseaccel
m_pitch -0.016
m_yaw 0.022
no mouse smoothing
crosshair 15 crosshairsize 60 crosshaircolor yellow (pwnage :D)
f - ng???
fov 100 (at least in q3 he used it)
drawgun 1
800*600 res
lowest graphics
kind of a dark config
i tried :<
lol funny shitz, dont think i could play with it. i see kind of a problem tho like.. z for moveleft and shift for zoom, so when he zooms and moved hell prolly move to his right, ur left so u always(maybe not always..) know where to aim. just my 2 cents :>
i always wonder how different most of the user mouse-setups are.
when i started with q3 i got used to play with ultra-low sens 3/no accel/windows-sense very low.
when i started to watch pro-demos, i realized that higher sense is needed to flick with rail/RL, so i tried it out. nowadays i play with sens 5/accel 0.25/windows-sense in the middle, which works fine by me. for a 360 i need like 3cm, didn't measure it tho :)
yesterday i noticed 2 extreme examples. prozac uses sens 2/no accel ... that's so fucking slow. how can you even do a good rocket/rail-shot with that ?
other example is k1ller, i never saw his config, but his sens makes me sick everytime i see him play.
not that this post makes sense, but it seems weird to me. :)
Pro sensitivitys usualy go from about 20cm/360 to 40cm/360 (possibly 45).
Not very comon to see professional players with higher/lower than that, even though they might exist =P
the ingame /sensitivity value tells shit about the real sens in cm/360° tho. Different mice/drivers/whatever can lead to totally different results, so only compare cm/360° and nothing else :) (with accel users even that is a bit hard to do tho)
Like you, I use a high DPI mouse (Logitech MX518 @ 1600 DPI). What I do for my sensitivity is grab a long ruler and change my in-game sensitivity until it matches 50cm/360, and I leave acceleration out, as I'm one of those who can't get used to it.
For the record, I use an in-game sensitivity of 0.5 (as was also suggested by noctis) with the Windows slider in the center, I use "Setpoint Implementation", and I have not used any kind of patches for Windows. :D
Moving with the mouse always seams wierd to me, not how it can be played, not how it can be mastered. But just how someone can seriously learn it after being introduced to classic ways (wasd, rdfg or uhjk). My cl (unreal) has walk forward on mouse 2 and then normal wasd (xcept for w of course).
Mouse 2 for forward is the classic way, default for quake. Arrows for left , right and back and uparrow for jump. wasd is the new way which ive only partially adopted. Could never get used to not using mouse 2 for forward.
He changed it back to his Quake3 rail crosshair after losing to ztrider in ISC. Obviously he felt he wasn't aiming well and the crosshair gave him the confidence to aim to his usual standard again.
Toxic is lame :D
I've got the configs of Bellarussian players form their esdc cup, check them out: Cypher Quake 4 config - i really loved the graphic setting, and the controlss seem to be classic Keep3r Quake 4 config - also a nice config, but a bit laggy on my weak machine.
guys he acctually sent me his CONFIG.! its just pretty much defaults cept for his keys and pitches were changed to be more sensitivie his sens is 2.8 0 accel 800x600 res low qual his brightness is 1.2 and 1.6 gamma
