The prize money was the same for both tournaments. Just the distribution was different, 4th - 8th place in the female competition got nothing at all.

thats not sexist thats common sense look at tennis, the guys get more at a grandslam than a woman because the level of competition level is higher. just like how a tiny atp tour doesnt have as large a prize money as a grandlam because the level of competition is lower

like tennis the girls would get raped in q4 and none would make top 10 in the rankings. but look at the 2 tournies, cpl doesnt sponsor any gamers (afaik) and what do they do? unisex tournie. via sponsors a girl gaming clan and make seperate tournies and rofl the girls got higher prizes

He lost against Hunter on Phrantic in a Winner Bracket final in a tournament before CPL Winter. He owned him in the final though.

Phrantic is Cooller's map... and he will destroyd all the players on this map... he lost in a Winner Bracket final in Asus Autumn(tournament before CPL Winter) becouse he thought that Hunter was not very good player... but Hunter is very highskilled...
So:
Cooller is the best player in the world nowadays... i think he will won on the Clanbays final... in New-York...

Question VIA putting extra money into a competition where they also sponsor the 'main clans' is that not some kind of conflict of interest. Don't get me wrong i'm not down on 'womens' gaming, however before this event the g0d girls were on top and the money from VIA for the prize just increases the female competition. The money basically is given to a competition then straight back to the 'VIA' group when the g0d girls win? I know Intel do the same but the scale is much greater and the diversity of winners is higher. Something just doesn't seem 'right' here. Especially as the male comp would give more exposure to VIA on the grand scheme of things, why only increase the pot on the female comp?

The prize purse was exactly the same for both tournaments, it was just distributed differently for the men and the women =)

In most cases women dont have the same amount of money simply because they dont have the same amount of skill as men, whether its down to strength speed or whatever. Its known in almost every sport in the world.

Not forgetting cooler wins lans not because he has skill, many players have skill. But the fact that he performs at crucial times. When competition is low, he'll decline but when competition is high, he pinnicles. Think of him as simply a consise player with good input efficiency.

The worst guy from the male tournament could probably beat the best female in the female tournament.

People are fans of Cooller, Fox , Winz and such players because they have skill. They are fans of girls because they have boobs. They do not have any exceptional skill level, nor is the competition so high that they bring the best out in girls yet. So why should we care? I don't.

The only reason why there should be female tournaments, is because it shows that there is interest from both genders and proves the point that competitive gaming is becoming big. Ok, fine! But don't give the #1 of the girls more money. They don't deserve it. If one of the top male players start training a female player she'll own the shit out of any tournaments.

I'm waiting for a girl who has the guts to enter male tournaments and be judged purely on performance. It might be me, but if you are a professional you want to prove that you are the best and hence you'll play in the most competitive league. Not join a make-up & boob-powered sherade to detract from the fact that your gaming skills are only special when compared to a small group of geeky females.

Quetz played Q4 for just 10 days before this tourney... that doesnt say much for female gaming when she can then walk away with the $3000 top prize :/

Having said that, lets not get too carried away with the issue of money between the two tourneys, they were actually the same prize fund, just given out differently and with very few entering the female tournament, giving out prize money on the same basis as the male tourney would reward even less skilled players (who wants to reward a player for finishing 8th in a 13 player entry?).

Tells me that female gaming quite possibly gained a player with some real skills, will have to see how she does with more practise.

For the 100000th time: prize money in ANY sport is not determined by skill or effort but ONLY by media exposure. Comparing the skill of male and female competitors is entirely irrelevant. For example, there are plenty of fantastic athletes in small sports who make 100 time less than what a mediocre golf or tennis player makes.

Ironically, the more you whine about the prizes in female tourneys, the more you are proving that they are succesful in generating exposure.

Explaining things like that never get through. It's just like the "nVIDIA don't sponsor tournaments because they just released a new GFX card, they sponsor them for the brand recognition" it just never gets through their skulls no matter how many times you say it :)
