Analysis:

Mesta: Arguably the NA powerhouse of the competition. These guys are all veteran and most of them have strong teamplay and TDM experiences. gel and aph are both all-time CPM legends and it’s great to see them on the same team. Who hasn’t seen the insane comeback from aph against daler? The rapes from gel against anyone even with high ping? TDM has been the main mode for years for lsv, aph and gel and they all played cups and competitions at some point, but never together. With proper training, they will definitely be a team to watch for.

xero: Is there anyone in the world who is better at CPM than gellehsak? World class aim? Check. World class movement? Check. Over a decade worth of experience? Check. What remains to be seen is to see how far he can carry his team, this is not to say his team mates are bad, not at all, but I think it’s quite clear that they are not on his level. The old king, apheleon makes his long anticipated return to competitive play, but his long hiatus will have undoubtedly left in him poor form. Since the demise of Styles Unknown, lsv has been wondering the different channels of the promode community like the ghost of Leonardo DiCaprio in Tiatanic. A comedic mainstay of the North American community, lsv brings the level of aim, movement and experience to a team that allows him to play a strong complementary role on a winning team (think of him more as Ryan Giggs than David Beckham). His ream of TDM experience lets him stay far ahead ahead of the competition in casual games, even in his semi-active state, but I’m uncertain that if that will be enough against the supercharged European teams. This team is rounded up by nineX and deth. Deth, another old school player, a lot of experience, but in poor form. nineX, a relatively new player, at least in comparison to his team mates who all participated in WANsanity (2003) is the opposite of deth, he’s in good form, steady aim, average movement, but lacking experience.

Prediction:

Mesta: top 8 for sure.

xero: Even though this is a great team on paper, I just don’t think the stars have aligned for them at the right time. They will be riding on gellehsak and lsv to carry them into the playoffs, if apheleon can get in form by then they should be contend for top 3. Realistically 4-8.

ShadyAK: oh snap, a team with apheleon, gellehsak and nineX? I'm downgrading Heffalumps from "clearly the best NorthAmerican team" to "one of two NA teams that will haul ass" Should definitely qualify, and then we'll see who they get in the knockout stage, and their overall placing depends on it.
