mice at lan competitions (17 comments)

I use an IMO and am currently tweaking it to 500hz.

I was wondering if top players who use MS mice are pumping up their polling rates or if they just run with standard 125hz?

I'm guessing that tournaments would be pretty strict on what you can and can't do as far as modifying their computers...

Do they let players hack things like polling rate and/or use acceleration fixes? If they DO, how many people actually bother going through all that trouble?

Possible accel issue with IMO 1.1 on QcK (2 comments)

I reinstalled Windows 7 and was in the process of reconfiguring my mouse settings, when I noticed an issue.

At high speeds (a really fast swipe) my cursor is coming up short to where I was expecting it to end up (doing a point-to-point test to make sure acceleration is gone). Differing speeds confirm that accel is indeed gone---just, at really fast swipe rates, I lose some frames...

Am I hitting the mouse's malfunction speed?

Intellimouse Optical issues? (26 comments)

I've recently shelved my DA to go back and tryout my trusty IMO (I believe its the 6000 fps version), but I've noticed something that bugs me.

When I try to move my cursor in straight lines, usually horizontally, it will wave up and down vertically... it's extremely hard to keep it on a straight path unless I move very slowly or so fast that I can't tell..

Does this have something to do with the DPI? Or with its ancient optical sensor?
