i dont understand the internet anymore (62 comments)
Posted by doped @ 20:47 CST, 2 March 2015 - iMsg
What happened? the influx of a whole new generation shaping comments, content etc. to something that i just dont find funny anymore? or dont care about, or simply grew out of.. or is it really just that much more shitty, and its NOT me growing older and tired of it?

What is going on.. I'm not really visiting this site anymore either, it all just seem like a contest of who can post the most stupid comment anyway.

And ppl are still discussing mouse, gfx, config, whatever, like it's some new thing, highres textures etc etc. It never changes, its the same shit with a new generation.. its the same, a repeat, well not, it seems dumber than before. :/

TV went to shit with all the reality bs, sex grinding, stupid idiots etc, stopped watching back in 2008.

The world is shit, "oh well, what you cant change, you just have to accept" no fucking way, thats the REAL problem, we accept this shitty bs.. Fifty shades of bs prob highest grossing with all that FREE ADVERTISING. you see it, but does it anyway.

COCK SUCKING ON THE BUS, COME ON SHITTY GENERATION... fuuuck this. I'm done. Ye, that miley dickface whore wont ruin the generation, its the parents not the tv etc.. oooh how fucking wrong you were.. 6y old girls watching that and the mother saying stfu to me, "the girls want to listen to the music" ... OH YEAH, THAN ANACONDA ONE WITH WHORE DICKFACE CUNT SHIT.. GREAT MUSIC BTW!!! RECOMMEND!.. while they masturbate on their 6million euro iPads each...

tl;dr
world has gone to shitter, now internet too.

The effects of frame pacing. (50 comments)
Posted by doped @ 04:29 CST, 8 December 2014 - iMsg
vsync and frame pacing are two very different mechanisms, although frame pacing is ALWAYS on, where as vsync can be turned off :)

So, i was curious, do we all agree that vsync is a workaround for tearing, and that most of us would rather play with tearing than deal with measurable input lag? yes?

Why is it then that we do NOT agree on frame pacing as a work around for slight stuttering adding variable input lag dependent on THEORETICALLY stable fps, being forced ALWAYS ON, is just as bad an idea? Is it ignorance on the subject? is it the test that show stationary -> first movement showing no input lag(various tests, including recently done tests by noacc on here) undermines the real cause, and the ppl affected.

The fact that not all configurations are as affected as others, but some get the full bs of having to deal with frame pacing interfering even at limited fps aka 125fps etc?

An ON/OFF switch would be the definitive workaround as we do have on VSYNC, since most ppl know how vsync works, some make the choice(most) to not use it. Why not on frame pacing is my big problem.

Is "tweaking it" the same as being able to turn off? Am i just not seeing it in Inspector?

Frame metering, i need your help. (49 comments)
Posted by doped @ 07:52 CDT, 12 August 2014 - iMsg
UPDATE: Upgraded to windows 7, oc'd mouse to 500hz, and i can report, mouse is 1-1 linear now, it's as it should be. This bug is with drivers above 180 on windows xp it seems. Also, mouse on 125hz windows 7, is not linear, it was only after i oc'd to 500hz it was as in the old days.

Hello,

Im insane, and i have issues with any nvidia driver above 180.

All i can say is input is off, mouse feels like shit. Anyone having played long enough should know what im talking about.

If you don't know what im talking about, just ignore thread, it does not concern you. If you started gaming on 30ms lcd, you would not know what i talk about. Issue is standing since 2010 or there about(threads about the issue started popping up all over then)

Anyway, as i said, im insane and my latest theory is nvidia's frame metering that im attributing to this feel of molasses/delay whatever you wanna call it.

I contacted ppl from nvidia to request an OFF switch for frame metering. He said it was not possible now, but if enough ppl asked, they would consider it.

How is frame metering/pacing not a good thing, you might ask? maybe it's all good, but if it takes priority above input, it might just be what's causing the shit feel, or some of it.

http://techreport.com/review/21516/inside-the...marking/11
Frame metering sounds like a pretty cool technology, but there is a trade-off involved. To cushion jitter, Nvidia is increasing the amount of lag in the graphics subsystem. and it's not just added for sli, that my problem.

If you don't know what im talking about / i have no issue, you are -insult/joke
Ok, if possible, try playing quake with 175.16 driver, or if not possible, any ati card should have an immensely better feeling. If you don't believe me, just move on.

If you know what im talking about
We need to have a feature request thread at first is what he suggested.

how sensitive to input lag are you, tool (70 comments)
Posted by doped @ 08:23 CDT, 22 July 2014 - iMsg
I found this guy who made a tool for testing if you are able to pick up on small changes in input lag.

I suspect most ppl here will have no difficulty, but it will be interesting to see.

HF gaming guys, I'm done. (31 comments)
Posted by doped @ 09:08 CDT, 2 June 2014 - iMsg
Im done with this, and i just wanted to tell the internet.

I'll keep playing quakelive for as long as a 8800gt is supported, or it dies on me, and i'll tell you why.

I've tried newer nvidia cards and ATI cards + drivers, and both have some kind of framesmoothing or loose feeling, resulting in a feeling of input lag(cliché) I'm not sure what to call it, i'm just utterly disconnected from any game, and arena shooters are impossible to play for me. I just finished testing for my last time, and are now back on an old nvidia card, and that's that.

I'm done guys, i'll play this card to the end, and then im done with arena shooters and pc gaming for good. It was a fun run, i really enjoyed it.

gamespy closes all services pr 31/5 (19 comments)

I just found out gamespy is pulling the plug on all services and I presume it will kill all games using it for multiplayer.

when ingame multiplayer browsers gets killed, it usually means the game will die quicker than anything :(

Am i the only one finding joy in having "srs internets conversations" with random semi-intelligent(i know they dont go on the same page, but sometime you catch those who reply with eager and passion or whatever) ppl on the youtube comments?
Do I lack other meaningful social interaction, or am I scared in some way to enjoy that shitty drama??

too serious for esr? Do i need yt comment addiction support forum for that?

PS/2 or USB when buying keyboard. (10 comments)
Posted by doped @ 12:57 CST, 13 December 2013 - iMsg
Hello esr,
Im about to get another model m from unicomp(need specific layout and cant find used) but I was wondering what would be the smartest to get since PS/2 seems to be completely absent from most motherboards these days(not entirely, especially if build the pc yourself)

I know the obvious answer is just get USB and get with the times, what are your thoughts, i need some input on the matter, since i cant make up my mind.

Help me clean setpoint low fltr driver. (8 comments)
Posted by doped @ 05:34 CDT, 10 September 2013 - iMsg
Hello esr.
I've tried most now things now, with no avail.

My problem is i installed setpoint which was a BIG mistake. Now i'm stuck with logitech filtered mouse drivers no matter what driver i install using device manager.

setpoint is uninstalled(so it said) but i've narrowed it down to it still being active as some kind of kernel module added to the windows kernel/services or something.

I've tried removing the L*(moufltr).sys files(a couple) from system32/drivers with no avail i've tried different mouse fixes to see if they would override anything but still no.

At first i thought it to be a bit placebo, but now i'm sure. I installed marC's flat-line-test.reg and with mouseaccel is on, i can still move the mouse, ever so slightly, which is how i know for SURE that the logitech filter is still on.

google was to no avail either, as the only thing i get is add remove program guide :/

ESR, plz help me get driverless feel back without format.

flash player and cpu usage (16 comments)
Posted by doped @ 06:46 CDT, 15 April 2013 - iMsg
ok, my computer is not the newest anymore, but not being able to watch streams is getting redicules. 100% CPU usage windowed mode, not FS.

youtube is FINE 720p fullscreen ~30% cpu usage.

newest flash version, tryed downgrading too, no difference.

dual core 2.4ghz 2gb ram should be able to stream video.

is this adobe's fault, or something else?

Quake3 crosshairs in quakelive (17 comments)
Posted by doped @ 03:53 CDT, 15 March 2013 - iMsg
OK, so i've got enough of the borders on quakelives crosshairs, and decided to import the q3 crosshairs, but...

i have no idea what to rename the crosshairs to. Q3 has them in gfx/2d/crosshair[a-j].tga

I may have to convert them to png too?

I would presume they would go as cg_drawcrosshair 19-29 as it seems it was made for custom image crosshairs instead of hud generated?

is it even doable?

LCD gaming (6 comments)
Posted by doped @ 15:20 CST, 1 December 2012 - iMsg
okay, my CRT half-died, 1024x768 was half width, and anything but gaming was REALLY getting annoying, so i had this 24" benq lcd which should be very low input lag, and mouse in windows feel okay, but quake feel REALLY weird, like mouse it not solid.

i come from 140hz in 800x600, so is it just LCD 60hz that is this bad for gaming?

would it be better to go for 75hz, or is it just some pseudo thing which just buffers or something?

still a lcd noob i guess, haven't bothered since i though is was input lag that made everything unplayable to me, but now it seems like some ghosting 60hz unsmoothness has something to do with it aswell?

mouse hand cramps up from trying to make it move solid instead of this unsmoothness or too smooth i guess. NEWSFLASH lcd for gaming sucks :(

CRT h-size problem (3 comments)
Posted by doped @ 07:34 CST, 7 November 2012 - iMsg
hello,
I'm having this problem with my crt where it clicks and shrinks h-size to about half.
Usually pressing it's sides or bashing it abit fixes it, but now it won't "click" back.

any good ideas how to fix it, i guess it will require me to open it up, but im very scared of that since i recall something about crt's packing some serious voltage on the tube, and requires special handling :/

so my 7600GT died. *sad/mad-face* (57 comments)
Posted by doped @ 08:16 CST, 28 February 2011 - iMsg
Okay.
maybe this is not the right place to ask, or maybe it's exactly the right place, anyway, my geforce 7600GT finally said goodbye, and left the building all scrambled with weird marker lines and paint splatter on the walls, naughty naughty boy!

so now I'm in a bit of a pickle, as I'm not just able to go buy a new geforce and nvidia card of my desire, since CRT users have been left in the dust.

first problem.
I still use legacy resolutions for DOOM, duke3d and the like(640x400) and newer nvidia drivers doesn't seem to like those very much, and if you try to add 'em, they still act up with long black screens on intros and whatnot. *sadface*

second problem, refresh rate forcing/fixing.
FPS for me needs 100+ hz. I'm mostly running 800x600 as my monitor gets 120hz and i don't mind the low resolution as long as i can get some anti-aliasing working right(ati seems to screw that for me with some edge detect that's only half decent at detecting those edges anyway, and for me seems like a hack job)

third problem.
400w power supply, although a decent corsair one, but nothing spectacular.
also i would like a low power card, since my pc just as often sits acting like a server. I believe my 7600GT was 40w on full load.

and to wrap it up, refreshforce works great for non older nvidia drivers with the option, but some games really don't like it and acts all weird.

I've been thinking of the 9500GT as i should be about the same performance, but was wondering about legacy resolutions and those new drivers.

right now i've got a 8400gs just to be able to display something on the screen, but it seems do something really odd when booting, the screen updates REALLY slow in those legacy resolutions like updating at 2fps when a new line is scrolling the screen.(CLI)
