We have the very first candidate for being game of the year 2010, its called VVVVVV (yes thats 6x V) :P

Trailers

Online demo version in flash

It is a hardcore platformer, that requires fast thinking and even faster reacting. It has a good tempo, and great soundtrack that fits in perfectly. If you miss the times when you could actualy brag about beating video game, and there was no such thing as difficulty settings, then it is a game for you.

You can buy whole game (35MB) for 15 bucks on http://thelettervsixtim.es/
It isnt long, I finished it in 2h 11m 33s with 19 out of 20 trinkets (bonus items), and 2h 30m 15s with all 20 (missed Im Sorry/Please Forgive Me one), but intensity and fun factor makes it worth.

Borderlands vs UT (6 comments)

No it is not about which game is better :P
Actualy after Boarderlands instalation, my Unreal Tournament stopped working properly. When I join the game (either online or offline) it runs like in 2fps. So I wanted to ask if others also have such issue or maybe know whats going on.

The same happens with intro flyby map, and even if I put static graphic in there it is flickering (a bit of flickering can be also seen on quote in open connection box). Also as long as Im connected to server even whole gui is working like in 2fps.

Interisingly it happens only in UT. I have checked Unreal Tournament 2004 and Unreal Tournament 3 and they were both fine. Now, UT actualy isnt keeping any files outside the game folder. Even registry entries are just for file assotiation and uninstalation, so basicaly you can simply copy UT folder to another PC and it will work. It should be impossible for Borderlands (which is based on unreal engine 3) to tamper with UT. I have checked UT configuration files, switched API (DX7, DX8, OpenGL), no effect. I only allowed Borderlands instaler to run DirectX web update, this however shouldnt affect OpenGL API.

I posted the issue on official Borderlands forums on Technical Support subforum, but didnt get any reply. Everything is running on XP.

Two step speed, a 98style acceleration (8 comments)
Posted by fws @ 17:06 CDT, 16 September 2009 - iMsg
I think Ive seen it here on forums once and some other pages, but cant find it. What Im searching for is way to set mouse to work like it did in windows 98. From what was said in 98 mouse actualy had a simple form of acceleration - if we moved mouse slowly then it was working with certain speed, but if we did faster movements it used a different higher speed. There were only those 2 speeds and nothing in between, probably explains why it didnt feel right with neither noaccelfixes nor acceleration when I switched to xp :P After years passed Im fine with it in QL and all newer games, but it still hurts my UT a bit.

An explanation or link to how to archieve that would be nice.
