Hi all. A Lot of changes have been implemented in quakelive recently. There are many discussions whether it good or bad changes. I think that gameplay changes are bad and it won’t attract new players to the game cause new player gonna die as quickly in FFA as they did before.

I just want to you my thoughts with you on the “Real changes” that Qlive needs.

What are the current problems with Qlive?
1. Bad ranking and matchmaking system
2. Lack of tutorials for newcomers

Did last update change any of this?

NO! Trying to make the game easier to play is not a good strategy. Blizzard did it to StarCraft:BroodWar (SC:BW) and who the fuck likes StarCraft 2 now. Right, no one.

So, what can we do to make quake more fun to play for oldschools and new players?

Have you read 2 problems quakelive has now as I wrote above? We should implement easy matchmaking and decent rating systems. Not this 4 tiers shit we have now. As a high tier CA player its hard to find a decent match without 1600 elo guys who knows really nothing on how to play CA. No positioning, 31lg and spamming rockets/nades everywhere – really no fun having 3 teammates like this. Same regarding duel mode. I mean I have sometimes “green games” with someone like Claws waiting to play. Like WTF? Its 1600 elo vs 2200 elo. Nice “green match”. Well its okay when you are at least above 1500 elo so you can aim/position/time. But imagine how newcomers feel the game. They join “green” or “yellow” match and end it like 0-45. Noone wants to play a game like this when you just get annihilated over and over.

So how can we solve this without changing gameplay?
I truly believe that a ladder system StarCraft: BroodWar players was using is the best one. Why? Cause SC:BW is like quake but RTS. SC:BW is also a damn hard game to play and hard to start cause oldschools will just rape you in every game. But it had a damn good ladder system. Check it out:
This system perfectly works on 1x1 mode, teambased modes, country and clans ranking.

So the year is divided into seasons – like 3 month is 1 season. Everyone starts on 1000 rating (D rank) and climbing the ladder up to A+ or Ultimate rank. When season ends all points are reset and you start from D rank again. This thing helps you to track your progress from season to season – you see that you ended with 3455 points (C-) last season and now you have like 3800 points in the middle on the season. THIS THING REALLY WORKS. I mean ELO is a nice thing but who the fuck cares on ELO? But you will care on every win/lose with that ladder system.

At the end of the season you can make some tourney with TOP3 players of TOP6 countries or smth like this. Just check the the iccup site to see how well you can track Clans/countries/teammodes.

Just spawn servers like (D/D+/C- ztn/dm6/sini join) – and add a pregame window. So the player1(d+) can see the player2(c-) joins the server:

QUAKELIVE: The game is starting…

I believe its pretty easy to do. Add ladder (with limited maps) and non-ladder servers, allow players to spawn server, make chat channels and pre-game window. This will add competition to game, allow low skill players play vs about the same level (+/-) and high tier players to play vs about the same level of players.


Secondly, please make a good matchmaking system as well. Something like I wrote above.

Okay. Tutorials.

Even Q3 had a better tutorial that qlive has. Just make a tutorial maps for newcomers where they can practice strafe, aim, RJ, some quake tricks. It could be just a few defrag/ffa maps with announcer saying all the staff new players need to know about quake. Plus add just a new cfgs they can chose from. Let them know that can bind weapons on any key, some useful tips on sens, accel etc. I mean that’s not a lot of work – just do it. Once new player knows all this staff, killed some bots (make them less stupid) he can try to play some ladder games – but like D rank vs D rank, not D vs B+. I am sure he is gonna love this game cause its great.

Chat and channels

I am not even going to explain why you have to add it. Just do it.

P.S.: Bethesda please don’t kill Quake.

This is not a flaming thread, I'm just here to propose a discussion about dmg display.

I played a bit in practice mode and I saw this new thing, the damage display. I found it pretty useless and RPG-style at first and then I thought it was probably meant to give some insight to the players for him to evaluate better the stack of his opponent (may id never implement something to see the enemy life, but who knows what a "modern" fps should be...).

Then, okay, but why did they choose this way of displaying damage when it comes to mg / lg / hmg and especially shotgun.

I think it would be more efficient, and smarter, if dmg would add up. For instance, if you hit 5 pellets with your shotgun, why not display 25 dmg instead of 5 small "5" ?

Same with the mg, lg and so on. The sound is already telling you when you hit, so, if you hit a player with let's say 10 LG cells in a row. Why not display 60 dmg instead of 10x6 ?

I think it could be a better way to display damage. What do you think ? I don't see any point in displaying 10 x 5 when I shoot with the shotgun, I don't have the time to count them all actually since they disappear pretty fast.

Also, I'd like to add that I think this shouldn't be authorised in classic, because classic is supposed to be where you have to master the game and evaluating the enemy stack is an important feature of the game strategy. Thus, facilitating the evaluation might somewhat lower this strategy aspect.

CTF completely sucks now. Classic CTF is unranked. So this might be the final nail in the coffin for CTF.

In Q3, ctf was very popular, and ctf servers remained the last servers that were well populated.

I feel like QL killed CTF with proximity mines and all the other TA bullshit, and now this is the final nail in the coffin.

No one is even talking about CTF now, one of the funnest game types, because id messed it up and never bothered to fix it.

And the reason CTF sucks now, for those who need elaboration, the new changes make ctf purely an aim and fighting skill game now. Because any idiot can run past an item timer and see that it is about to spawn and wait for it. Now players that had strong timing skill have no edge.

The new changes won't help newbs. Newbs will still be clueless. It just helps the mindless players pickup items and shifts more importance upon aim.

I do like the fact that they got rid of the TA BS FINALLY. But it was years too late.

I even uploaded demo's...still no reply.. and I think they even banned my ip from #quakelive on irc :D rofl

Bear with me.

1) Automatic bunnyhop. This is so retarded it simply has to be removed. Seriously? We spent months to get movement good and timed. We spent years getting all tricks perfected.
Now the simple basic thing that everybody should be able to perform after some training is AUTOMATIC. Really? Are players that dumb now?

2) LOLadouts. This makes every game with them an easy cake for any veteran. Imagine, you don't have to get across the map to get LG or that overpowered new thingamajig for example(more on that in the next point), you GET IT FOR FREE. What is this shit for, I don't know. It's supposed to make newbies not vulnerable after spawn? If so GJ idiots, because this makes us veterans even MORE able to kill them. I get spawned with LG or HMG, I rack up frags from the start. Because, you see, the player still hast ho have SKILL to use the gun. GJ!

3) Heavy Mental Gun. This weapon looks nt that bad, albeit out of place when compared to other guns in QL. But that's a minor point. The real lol is: Hitscan, long range, 8 dmg. Also, available for loadout. Try to play any space map with it, or better AGAINST it. Just try. Also, in FFA that gun is a total joke, allows for farming everyone around without any special skill. LG required you to be much more precise, and had medium range. Required skill. This pepper gun is just a game-breaker.

4) AMMO PACKS!!!!!!!!!!!!! AGHUEXJFDSAFK!!!! This is where I began to explode. I mean, no more using brains? ammo packs for all of the shit? Holy crapeiro? Yeah, because learning different colors of ammo boxes and memorizing their placement was SO DIFFICULT. Is this game for retarded/disabled people?

5) No team damage? Nowhere? Are you...ahh. My brains topped working. I just hear a howling sound in my head, asking why, why, WHY? TD required you to THINK and AIM well. Because otherwise you killed or damaged your very own teamamtes. Can't have that with no-brain spamming noobs, can we.

6) Reduced ammo respawn. WTF? Let's get better! Let's make ammo NEVER DISAPPEAR! This way we will solve the problem of ammo packs forever! - this is a mental note for monkeys who devised this idea. I bet the next update will make ammo packs never expire. I mean, counting your ammo is for idiots, right? let's spam with neverending stream of ammo, right? RIGHT? Jesus Christ on a very long fucking stick, this is really a brilliant idea. MOAR WEAPON, MOAR AMMO!

7) Powerup POIs/item timers. Oh, here we go. Back in the day you had to know the VERY DIFFICULT and SO MYSTICAL times for all items and PUs. It was so hard some of us died. Really. Not.
Given how anyone past first grades of elementary should count well at the very least up to 100, the issue of these measly seconds was no problem for anyone. It was a matter of learning the times and keeping them. Something akin to taking your dog for a walk periodically.
But no, they had to remove that too. REMOVE THIS SIMPLE THING THAT ANY IDIOT CAN MASTER with a little bit of incentive and will. How's that? Man, now even a very dumb monkey (because even normal monkeys CAN COUNT) can play this game. We are all saved.

8) Icing on the cake: Classic is unranked. NORMAL QUAKE IS UNRANKED. Good, how nice. The noob friendly version that requires a tiny amount of skill needed to master original Quake allows you to hit insane accuracies and get easy wins. The mode that actually requires skill matters not, no stats. What for? Apparently, for the devs, If you play oldschool version you're so well versed in game mechanics that you should count all stats in your head. No hand-holding. REAL DEAL. Lol.

To summarize:

-This update won't bring new players because it allows veterans to be even more deadly. Because it is a lot easier.
-This update is for idiots who can't count, can't move and can't learn anything more than +forward and +fire.
-This update causes players who want to learn and old playerbase to leave in droves because it breaks every aspect of QL.

I TOLD THIS BEFORE, I WILL REPAT IT. What for, I don't know.

You idiots, you broke the game. id Software made Q3A and it was good. Then you started improving it. You ironed out bugs, fine. You added some shit, removed some thit, fine. Changed guns, fucked up but okay let's give you benefit of the doubt. But you started to CHANGE TOO MUCH.

You see, your basic playerbase was people who played Quake in its old iterations. They were used to oldschool mechanics, mainly because they SIMPLY WORKED for over a decade. How's that. I told it so many times that the only way for QL to stay alive is KEEP IT AS AN OLDSCHOOL NICHE FPS. With time, the players would come and the oldschools would stay and be happy. I told you that you should advertise it as a fast-paced, hard game for real men. Take this: If somebody is a fag who cant play, he will be a fag whether he plays DisabledQuake or QL or Q3A or QW. If somebody wants to learn, he will learn. If somebody wants to get better, he will.

But no, you decided to make it nnob friendly. As if such thing was even possible. You decided to make an easy route for you, forgetting that you're no Warsow or other BS. QUAKE is an enterprise and a LABEL that's been onboard the PC gaming bandwagon since 1996. It was a heritage to be proud of and expand upon. It had a huge, loyal playerbase of oldschool Quakers who were more than happy to jump back into the game.

Yet you blew it all away. You overthought it, pals. You overworked it. You overshot the target. Now you will pay. Your target customers are already leaving in droves, and noobs will get bored after few games and quit back to BF or COD.

Good job, please do a standing ovation for id. NOT.

Everyone seems to be obsessed with the LG dmg change , I don't mind the LG nerf, it's still a powerful weapon. I wanted to share some thoughts on the other changes.

Except in duel, this doesn't affect gameplay, most players already know how much damage weapons do. If anything, it's a positive change, new players won't have to look at a guide to learn how much damage each weapon does. It's also possible to disable this, which really should be forced (at least as a server option) in duels.

Item timers
This is actually a nice change. Initially my thoughts on this were, they're just dumbing this down...
However, the timers are vague enough that it still requires a bit of map awareness to show up on time, while at the same time making it less likely for one player to hog items. This is a nice balance.

Heavy Machine Gun
I get why this was created, I get why they didn't just alter mg dmg. But this gun is completely overpowered. I know, I know, it does less dps than lg. But lg has a falloff range, hmg is like a slightly less powerful lg that hits across a large map, use this weapon on an open map like hells gate and then try and tell me it isn't overpowered.

I'm not familiar enough with other game modes affected by this, so I'll discuss FFA. It's never before been possible to start a quake match with an advantage over other players. You all get random spawns, the same weapons etc. Now, selecting a different load out, far from levelling the playing field, is creating a huge imbalance in gameplay. With everyone spawning with powerful weapons, you're going to get fragged more often, giving you less of a chance to get more ammo or a decent weapon. But more importantly, depending on the map, one loadout might be more effective than another loadout, so there's an inherent imbalance before the game even starts. You might argue this is a new skill people should learn, which loadout to select based on the map, but then you're just making this more difficult for new players, not easier.

Both the ammo respawn time (10 seconds across all types) and universal ammo are poor design decisions.
This may not seem like such a bad idea, but it removes yet another skill from the quake players reportoire. You can no longer deny an ammo crate, or trap players going for ammo for specific weapons.

I'm surprised they didn't do away with health bubbles and switch to regenerative health. Keeping track of where hp is on the map, too difficult for new players. Of course, health bubbles can be used as a trap, if someone is low you might predict they'll make their way to a bubble, fire a rocket etc. Maybe this feature is next.

The classic rule set physics has been altered, it feels like pql lite. Movement is faster, there's stair jumping or whatever it's called. You can jump on top of another player when standing right next to them without any height advantage. I'm running around maps bumping into walls because the movement feels so different. Why wasn't this change mentioned anywhere? Is it a bug, is it intentional?

There also seem to be a few bugs in duel classic. Hells gate and asylum aren't regular duel maps, but there's no reason why these should be spawning the HMG in classic mode. You can disable hmg spawning, but then you're left with an empty spawn for RL (on asylum) and they've moved the SG on hells gate, which is in a less exposed position now.

If you want new players to stick with the game, let them learn it like everyone else did. With a decent single player progression with options for different difficulties. Surely this can't be hard to implement, and it would let you keep the game as is, without messing with a formula that's proven successful over 14 years.

The three settings from the advanced game menu give :

or for just AoE (area of effect) it's set to

obviously you can tailor it to be for any weapons you like by editing out what you don't want from the list above

"cg_simpleItemsBob", "cg_damagePlum" may not autocomplete in the console at first until they're set but these are correct, it's 'plum' not 'plums'.

It's pretty much unoticable if you're used to QL movement, but you may want to use this to force autohop off on your client.

The Heavy Machine Gun (HMG)

/bind x "weapon toggle"
Swap between primary and secondary loadout weapon.
It always goes to primary first from any other weapon, unless you're already on primary then it swaps to secondary as you'd expect.
You can't direct bind secondary, you can only double tap the toggle key but doing this won't give two weapon changes, it will go straight to secondary.

It's not new, but it is now allowed on all default severs, with a 1 second spawn penalty.

The loadout menu sets these, or you can currently script it your self to control your weapon primary, and weapon secondary, then you need to /kill to receive them.

all of these are in the in game menus, except for the autohop option

After the QL-update today I installed Quake 3 and CPMA again and exec'd my QL config, just to see if it would work out, and actually, it sort of did. Visually it looks fine. Though, my sensitivity felt way off. It feels too low and mouseaccel feels way too low, it doesn't kick in like in QL. Any troubleshoot ideas?

Also, is there a summary of important commands that can't be ported 1:1 from QL to Q3?

Or is all of this pretty futile, and I should build a q3-cfg from scratch, going through each command seperately?

How do I disable the above mentioned, that is the bob of major items when simpleitems is on and the stupid damage display, whenever I hit an opponent... What are the commands?

Tried to cut it up and make it as short as possible.

LG is the only weapon that got nerfed, it has no positive effects on beginners OR veterans alike.

I'm trying to find a REASONABLE explanation as to why this happened? What was the though process? Why has no one talked about his and then suddenly "lol lg 2 op"

Dear all,

The future of quake is so bright, because the game is just so fuckign awesome.

The level of most players is just so fucking supernaturaly high, all the young players can really look up to these guys, the dedication and work that goes in to playing like some people do is just mind blowing and a real inspiration. The diversity in the types of characters that emerge in the scene is also an asset and a joy.
Improvments in technologie have made great settups for playing more comonplace so that more players can play the game as its ment to be played, leveling the playing field!

Streeming and all the new comunity created media has given newer players a glimpse into how good players think and practice and generaly what quake is about and what makes it unique and in many ways far superior to most fps games.
So much fun to be had!

I look forward to seeing how we will find a way past this silly period where id and others think they own quake and are determined to fuck it up, when really WE own it now! Mwahahaha
Lets not fall at the final hurdle. Its time to bring quake into a more mature age where computer games gain the same respect and depth of understanding as more historic and established games such as chess. This calls for ease of distribution and a nutral, functional, classy and customisable user interface.

I'm going to start work on harnessing the bitcoin protocol's hashing power to run decentralised super low ping 1v1 servers today. Gimme 5 hours I should have one up and running.

Some of you might have done an activity through fund-raising. Simply look out for sponsors such as parents, family, friends, and make a marathon such as biking, running, or anything else for a good cause, a cause that you think is good.

... What if you could fight for a good cause from your computer ? Funded in 2008, Extra Life Marathon is a gaming marathon that aims to collect money for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals located in USA as well as in Canada. These children suffer from various diseases from cancer to injuries from accidents.

The idea is simple: you find sponsors (parents, family, friends, and so on) who are ready to pay you to play video games for 24 hours and you give back the money to Extra Life who will distribute it to the hospital of your choice (that belongs to CMN). This gaming marathon is starting on October 25th at 8:00 am . Of course you do not need to play 24 hours in a row. You can make a team and make some blocked hours, take breaks, and so on. In other words, you have to play a total of 24 hours to complete this marathon.

So, are you ready to play some Quake, Counter Strike or anything else for a good cause? ;)

some things that reflex could copy

quakeworld's faster run speed[400ups with strafing]: this will make rockets and lg harder to land and you will see less jumping, which will make the game less random.

backpacks for tdm would be an improvement over the weapon trading-ffa style tdm from q2, cpm, and ql.

grapplehook ctf? newbies love their devices :)

there are more features that the team could copy from qw, but i'll just leave that for the devteam to find themselves.

and what's up with the hate for cpm 1v1? it's a beautiful game, especially when played on a good map

this is what cpm look likes when played on a good map(cpm15 is the best available in cpm).

everyone wants to blame id software for killing the game, but i believe the gameplay(especially the team gameplay) is why it ultimately failed after 2 years. same thing happened to quake 3

reflex needs to focus on map making, improving the game for hardcore players, and coming up with NEW fun modes for casual players(THE NEXT instagib-type game) if it wants to have a long life as KING.

mix in "duel", "ca", "tdm" or "ffa" as player name to set the game type for the next real player names
default game type is the current server's or duel, if not connected to a server.

- added a "badge letter" to /elo score indicating the number of games completed (according to the official QL user profile stats):
A-J are in steps of 100, so A=0-99, B=100-199, ... J=900-999
K-Y are in steps of 1000 so K=1000-1999, L=2000-2999
Z is 16000 and anything above

e.g. 1660F means 1660 Elo, with 500-599 games completed

- fixed formatting for red team average

After 6 months, I played FFA in QL. Server was "green" on skill-match.

Seriously, this is biggest problem with QL atm. If I were totally new to Quake, after that match I would re-think if I want to play such game.

The interview was mainly motivated by his recent good performance in the 125 FPS August league, where he was able to beat Russia Pavel "pavel" Fomkin in two maps, which no one really expected.

In this interview, we asked Winz about his QuakeCon experience and his return on the duel field, but also about the next Unreal Tournament game, his loan to Russia Sergey "evil" Orekhov in 2013, and the future changes to QuakeLive gameplay. France Esportactu: Your presence on the duel scene makes me think of your unfriendly relation with strenx, since you could have to play him one day or another. Is the perspective of beating him a source of motivation or does it make no difference ?

France Winz: It would probably have mattered a few years ago. As I said, I have a more casual approach to the game now and this ego war does not move me anymore. Honestly, if we had played at QuakeCon, in the shape I was in, he would probably have beaten me, and I have no problem with that.

Using the Kana v2 since a while now...and i have a question.

It sometimes feels a little jittery (extremly low, only noticeable if i pay attention to my mouse arrow...but i dont know if it affects my aim or not) or something like that. I dont know if its just some sort of negative placebo cause i still cant aim as well with it as with my DA.

But whats the best way of finding out if its working properly or not? Are there any programs which can help me there?
Or is the Sensor flawless, as many people seem to say, and im just a noob?

The mouse is using the Avago ADNS-3090 (like most of the Zowie mice, such as the FK) This is what it looks like in paint, seems flawless to me...but i really dont know.

The Sensor in my DA used to be more in the front (i used it for 7 years or so). The Sensor in the Kana V2 is more in the back...does it make a big diffrence ?

(Since i posted it in the wrong area and got no response, i give it another shot here :))

I've been interesting in holding a DC area esports tournament after getting heavy into CSGO ealier this year. Initially I figured CSGO would be the one but after getting into QL recently and thinking about 1v1 intead of 5v5 I think QL may be a better fit. MagFest is coming up in January which would probably be the location though I might do some smaller events leading up to that.

A big part of my interest in esports is teaching others how to get started with a game and build a solid foundation. For example I played CS casually since the beginning but never got into it competitively until this year after finally learning the fundamentals thanks to all of the guides on youtube and the competitive matchmaking mode in CSGO. That has lead me to think that holding some sort of QL bootcamp and beginner tourney for some prizes would be a good idea, and then a separate advanced tournament for money.

Any thoughts, suggestions, etc? Anyone in DC area interested in teaching and/or competing? Obviously I'm at the beginning stages of working out the details but any suggestions would be appreciated.

hi, i've been using my trusty old deathadder since 2009 or 2010, can't remember. it's working fine but i'd like to try a smaller mouse, a bit shorter and narrower would be nice. i gotta have two thumb buttons though. i'm a claw grip with a bit of fingertip mixed in i guess. cloth pad (razer goliathus speed) with a 16cm 360° sens in q3.

i like razer stuff so i bought a taipan yesterday but returned it just a few mins ago already. the general size is nice but i don't like the edgy shape, didn't work too well with the way i'm holding the mouse. so i'm not sure where to look next.

steelseries sensei (raw) looks nice on paper but i've read a lot of mixed reviews (doesn't work well with cloth pads, hardware mouse accel etc). unfortunately none of the stores close by have it so i can't try it out / hold it in hand anywhere. i tried a steelseries rival but it was way too long for my taste.

no idea about zowie, can't try it out at any stores either and all their mice look the same to me. and judging by the pictures they just looks super cheap. how about mouse accel?

any other suggestions? thanks in advance.

Hello I am wondering how Reflex will fix some of the main flaws that CPM currently has in its gameplay. Is it gonna be a bit slower than CPM and still have air control or what? When is demo coming out so we can play.

Some thoughts on CPM flaws that have been discussed here before:

The recently leaked update has broken many hearts and rudely put us face to face with the fact that maybe something needs to be done or the long awaited death of Quake might finally become a reality.

Here's my take on the situation.

Quake is not too hard for newbies, it's just a fast paced game. Which means that you get fragged a lot, and quickly. You either like that or you don't, and many don't. But you can't change that aspect of the game or you'd have a different game. Easy to learn, hard to master. Real-time strategy games like LoL require a lot more learning in the beginning.

Back in the day there were few games competing with each other, now there are millions.
Quake has not gotten worse, the competition has gotten bigger, better and more varied.
There's no fix for this, it's just a new reality.

That doesn't mean arena shooters are a dying breed, but it's a breed that will have to content itself with a much much smaller piece of the pie. All a game like Quake can do is find a business model that allows it to survive.

Steam is a good move in that regard: more exposure, more promotion, the ability to do things that would be too hard on one's own - like VAC for example. Changing the game play however is not because then you're trying to fix what isn't broken.

Minor improvements like better matchmaking and anti-cheat are welcome sure, but they will only have a very small effect on the overall popularity of the game; they won't change the fact that more people today prefer to play games like DotA instead of arena shooters like Quake.

Feel free to disagree with the above; but maybe we should focus more on ideas for a survivable business model as opposed to arguing about minor game improvements that won't make a difference in the grand scheme of things.

I'm currently running an AMD 5600k APU with the stock cooller but it seems to be running really hot all the time. I think these APU's do generally run quite warm but this seems too high, talking 75-80c. If I play CS:GO and some other newer (sort of) games it can run them fine but will sometimes freeze and lock up the system which I'm presuming is due to heat. So I'm looking for a really good heatsink/fan to replace the stock cooller around the £20-30 range.

At the moment I've been looking at 2 Cooller Master ones :

Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO (£25)

Cooler Master Hyper 412S (£30)

Does anyone have any experience with either or have other suggestions?

Okay, the point of this thread is not to discuss the gameplay changes, there are others places for that. I am not part of focus group and have no influence, but I hope SyncError will lurk in here to read at least what I / we say. The thing is, let's try to be positive .

I'd like to bring some ideas as to the beginners experience for the steam release.

First of all, I saw that id implemented some gameplay tip in the new main page design, which I think didn't exist before, and this is a very good thing according to me. Still, this is not enough.

Here is what goes through my mind :

New players need to be introduced to everything step by step.

- The idea of having to fight Crash as an introduction - like it was some years ago when creating a QL account - was okay, but it wasn't effective enough. The two practice levels for strafe jumps and rocket jumps are okay, but I don't remember if there are mini videos for the player to see before he starts the levels. If there are already some videos available (like "click here to see an example") then it's okay. If there are not, it would be a good idea to do so. Actually, I don't know where to find the practice for strafe jumps and rocket jumps with the new design.

- I think it would be cool to make a "weapon training level". Something like small rooms with one weapon only each time, and a fight against a bot or something, along with gameplay tips, so that beginners understand the pros and cons of each weapon. Having the god mode on could be cool. Imagine, you are immortal, there is a door in the room to go through when you are finished with the objective or fed up with the weapon, you just take the weapon in the middle and bots come one by one from somewhere but cannot harm you. Your only concert is to train the weapon. I think this kind of practice would be efficient. The best thing would be to have some awards when finishing the training. I don't know exactly what could be done... but let's say you unlock the Xaero bright models if you go through all weapons rooms, etc.

- Having a timing training arena could also be interesting.

- Now the impossible part I guess... but according to me, QL would benefit from having multiple languages : spanish, russian, german, portuguese, corean, japanese... I already proposed that a long time ago and I remember the reactions weren't really positive ("you only have to know few english words to play in QL", etc.). Well, people may have a point, it's easy to play in QL, but as to understand the gameplay tips and the rest is another thing. I still think younger players would like to have the game in their mother tongue. All big games have multiple language, or am I wrong (I never played LoL) ? I'm not talking about havong new sounds and all in different languages, only the text, the menus, etc. I know I would be okay to translate the game to French for free for instance.

- Perhaps make all modes available for free, but make some of them (I'm thinking of Freeze tag, domination, harvester), unlockable. You play 10 full games of FFA / Duel / CA / CTF, you unlock this, or that, etc., so that beginners don't get lost in tons of modes immediately. In a way, having only certain modes available for free could very much solve the problem too, but maybe having to play to unlock thing could encourage some people, I don't know. I'm not completely sure, just saying.

- Now to make some money, what about having only 5 models available for free accounts, and having the possibility to pay for them for few cents. The idea seems a bit absurd actually, but games like dota and LoL make money with these kind of things (and maybe others but I don't play these games so I'm not in the best position to compare and voice some ideas).

My two cents.What do you think of it, do you have some things to propose ?

Hey, i've bought a Microsoft WMO 1.1a mice on internet and seller provide that is original MS mice, but i'm not so sure cause it looks kinda otherwise than some WMO's on internet i've seen on photos.

Mice costs 12 euro, it's used one. Here link to photos of my WMO:



First thing what catch my attention was the usb cable, you can see that it's grey, but ending is black. Look's like it was modificated.





I hope someone will help me and confirm originality of my WMO.

So, currently I'm playing with the DA 2K13 and I really like this mouse BUT, like you probably already know, I also have a krait 2k13, which I like a lot too.

Its been some months now that I play with the DA and so far I haven't noticed any major flaw in this mouse. I feel comfortable with it. BUT. Do you think that I would play better with a lighter/smaller mouse ? I know that some people like winz and l1nkin don't like big and heavy mice. For example, l1nkin tried the roccat kone pure optical, and he said the mouse is simply to heavy and big. Now he's playing with a wmoadder.

Concerning myself, I don't find the DA to be too big or heavy. Like I said I feel comfortable with it, and I like the sides grips a lot.

So yeah, it's a dumb question but still, do you think that I should switch back to the krait 2k13 and forget big mice for ever ? Or should I stick with the DA ? Yes, I know, after writing all of this I probably already got the answer, which would be to stick with the DA.
But everytime at night, in my head it's like "omg I miss the krait a bit, should I play with it again ? But ffs I also like a lot the DA, so I think that I will stick with." And the next night the same question remains lol.

I also know that hal is using an IE 3.0, and cooller an EC1 evo cl, which are very close mice to the DA 2k13. Maybe I should copy them and stick with the DA ? :D But FFS the krait is an awesome mouse too...

I have a big batch of Battlefield 4 keys to give away, courtesy of AMD. Quite a batch. I'd give them out to anyone who wants them, but for the sake of accounting/validation I need to have a record to prove to them later, so I'll need whoever wants them to go through a short process. Just check this thread:

There's multiple ways of getting the keys but you're only required to use any one method and you'll get a key sent to you. Yes, you can actually use more than one to get more keys lol
The easiest method for both you and me would be to just post a reply to that thread and wait for a PM, though that will require an account. Please be patient if you haven't received your key since I have to manually fetch, type and send to each person, and as you can imagine it's a mess.

Don't forget to follow the instructions. Yes, you will have to go through a dull little form but it'll get you a free Origin code! :>
The keys expire on the 30th of this month, and I don't want them to go to waste, so spread the word if you like.

I'd appreciate some plusses :D

Now shows the average Elo of team red, blue and overall (excluding specs). If the average Elo on the server is within +/- 150 of your own, the Join button turns green.

The sorting can be changed with "/elo sort=x", where x can be:
ql: standard QL sorting (by teams, then by score)
team: by team, then by Elo
elo: by Elo (red/blue mixed up)

Does the Sensitivity actually affect the LG? Since people say its all about strafing and to not move the mouse.

But how does it come that people then say that low sens would be best for lg, if those tutorials always tell me to learn to aim with "A+D" (and moving the mouse while aiming too much was bad)

Are there also any good videos of decent lg players where you can see how much they use there mouse in lg fights?

Hey ESL, please some advice to fix this: feels like mouse responds with some delay, looks like 30 FPS game, totally unplayable (lol lg firing).

What was done to fix it (100 times):

cvar_restart / vid_restart / new cfg exec / vid_restart
in_mouse 1 / 2; in_restart
nVidia 3D settings configuring
nVidia drivers newer/older versions installing
mouse engine drivers installing/uninstalling
mouse firmware update (was helpful some time ago, this time no effect and couldn't update couple of times)
all found mousefix regfiles used - no effect.

I thought the reason in non-native resolution used before and some due to scaling input lags, but it was fine on any r_mode before this problem. Looks like everything is ok with cfg, monitor and videocard settings, but something wrong with mouse.

Also I remember that this problem disappeared couple of times but not sure that I made something for fixing.

Please some help to configuring/fixing this, it pisses me off, I definitely sure that you all know what I mean: effect like truelightning 0.5, ping 200, filter_angels 100, fps 30

i was reading a lot about the upcomming changes and was thinking a lot and i dislike them a lot as well.

I was wondering how hard can it be to programm an working match-making system and why they dont put effort into it? So i was sitting down here like 3 hours and made this:

Its using qlranks ELO to find the best possible match for you.

Check it out, ofc it sucks because its 3rd party and u cant directly join a server per click. BUT i think if they would display something like his in their offical serverbrowser it would be a lot easier to find balanced matches. And if I can do this in 3 hours, they could do as well. They could even use some more hours and put their own elo counter into it to be independent.

ofc Match Making for Teammodes is a bit harder, but why cant they just make it work. I mean they code this new shit since 2 month and dont have 2 days time to programm an match making system - which definitely would help to grow the playerbase a lot more than just simplify the game and piss off most of its existing playerbase.

What do you think?
